The Queens Baton Relay is coming to Swan

About the Queen’s Baton Relay

The Queen’s Baton Relay is a Games tradition that celebrates the Commonwealth’s diversity, inspires community pride and excites people about the world-class festival of sports and culture to come.

How can you be involved?

Monday 26th Feb

The part we are interested in is when it travels from Woodbridge Riverside Park to Guildford Grammer School. On this leg the baton will be carried by Ramon Andersson.

Ramon, with the baton, will be paddled by Steve Bird (CRCC) and Jesse Phillips (BPC) in a K3 along this section of the Swan River.

All paddlers will need to be at Woodbridge Riverside Park at 4:00 pm on Monday 26 Feb 2018. Baton will leave at 4:25.

Suggest launching at Lilac Hill, Barkers Bridge or Fish Market Reserve at 3:30 to paddle to upstream to the start point.

There will be a continuation of the celebration at Stirling Square, Guildford after the baton arrives.

Anyone who would like a boat loaded on the Ascot Kayak Club trailer, it will then be taken from Ascot Kayak Club to Barkers Bridge. Loading at 12 noon.

It would be great to have as many paddlers as possible from all clubs on the water as part of the flotilla escorting Ramon and the baton.
