June.  No registration on the day.

Check-in:
Long and Short Course – 7:15 – 8:00am at Middle Swan Reserve, Middle Swan
Road, West Swan.
Novice and Guppies – 8:30 – 9:00am at Barkers Bridge (North End)

Car Shuffle: REQUIRED.

Briefing:
Long and Short Course: 8:10am.
Novice and Guppies: 9:00am

Start Location:
Long and Short Course. – Middle Swan Reserve, Middle Swan Road, West Swan.
Novice and Guppies – Barkers Bridge

Start Time:
Long and Short Course: 8:30am.
Novice and Guppies: 9:15am

Distance:
Long Course – 27 kilometres.
Short Course -12 kilometres.
Novice and Guppies U12 – 7 kilometres
Guppies U10 – 6 kilometres

Portages: None.

Classes:
Long course – Divisions x 4,  Team boat divisions if sufficient entries,
Short Course – Divisions x 1
Novice course, Guppies U12 – Division x 1, feature GK2 race for Guppies U12
Guppies U10  – Division x 1

Finish: Ascot Kayak Club, Garvey Park, Fauntleroy Ave, ASCOT.

Special Conditions:
– It is recommended that sun screen and sun protection (hat and long
sleeves) are worn.- Paddlers wishing to withdraw must notify officials and return their race
number to the finish.  Paddlers are advised to carry mobiles for this
purpose.
– All paddlers are advised to take adequate fluids for hydration during the
race.
– The course is not technically challenging but it is long.  Most paddlers
will take between 2 and 3 hours depending upon skill, fitness and boat type.
The long course is not recommended for novices.
– Entire course is flat and mostly deep, usually with very little wind.
Below Middle Swan Bridge, the river is wider, and some river traffic may be
expected.
– Adult Novices are welcome in either the Short course or Novice course.

LONG COURSE DESCRIPTION
A. START at Middle Swan Reserve heading upstream to Barrett St Bridge.
B. Anticlockwise around turning point then downstream to Middle Swan Bridge.
C. 6.3 km to Barkers Bridge.
D. 2.1 km to Guildford Road Bridge.
E. 3.6 km to Ron Courtney Island. PASS ON THE RIGHT SIDE, and continue
downstream, below Redcliffe Bridge, to the RED/BLACK spit post, near the
International Hotel Jetty. Do not pass under Garratt Road Bridge.
F. Turn anti-clockwise around the spit post then return to Garvey Park, with
Ron Courtney Island on the left, to FINISH at the AKC jetty.

SHORT COURSE DESCRIPTION
A. START at Middle Swan Reserve heading downstream to Ascot
B. 6.3 km to Barkers Bridge.
C. 2.1 km to Guildford Road Bridge.
D. 3.6 km to Ron Courtney Island. PASS ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
E. Turn anti-clockwise around the island then return to Garvey Park, with
Ron Courtney Island on the left, to FINISH at the AKC jetty. Do not pass
under the Tonkin Highway.

NOVICE COURSE, GUPPY COURSE
A. START at Barkers Bridge heading downstream to Ascot
B. 2.1 km to Guildford Road Bridge.
C. 3.6 km to Ron Courtney Island. PASS ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
D. Turn anti-clockwise around the island then return to Garvey Park, with
Ron Courtney Island on the left, to FINISH at the AKC jetty. Do not pass
under the Tonkin Highway
