Kent Street Weir Refurbishment Update

The first stage of the works is to construct a dam around the weir to create a dry working area either side of the existing weir.  This will involve driving narrow metal sheets (sheet piles) into the ground.  Work started on the 6th June, and is expected to take approximately 2 – 3 weeks.  Work will be undertaken between 7:30am – 5:30pm Monday – Friday.

 

The temporary bridge has been installed and is in use, and the old bridge is now closed.  You may wish to use an alternative access route across the Canning River while the sheet piling is being installed.

 

The Canning River Café, Canning River Eco Education Centre and other amenities surrounding the weir will remain open throughout the construction period.
