Development Officer for Paddle WA – Job Advertisement

About the Organisation:

Paddle Western Australia is a non-profit organisation that is the peak body for Paddle sports in WA, affiliated with Paddle Australia and is based in Mount Claremont, Western Australia.

The community is including but not limited to clubs, disciplines, committees, volunteers, coaches, the Paddle Academy, the Board and the staff.

With 11 clubs located across Perth and the South West of W.A. including a membership base of 2408 members. Paddle WA thrives to create a cohesive paddling community in Western Australia that embraces the dimension of paddling as a sport: adventure, recreation and competition.

Nature of the Position:

The Development Officer is responsible for the development, organisation and delivery of Paddle WA programs and events. This role incorporates Development Officer, Communication Officer and Event Officer skill-sets.

Job Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support and promote Paddle WA Clubs
  • Coordinate Paddle Academy (Education program operated by Paddle WA)
  • Coordinate and organise events for Paddle WA
  • Liaise with the National body (Paddle Australia) on rules, developments in the sports, competitions and skills development
  • Developing the sport of paddling through increasing participation at a competitive level, conducting introductory sessions, ongoing promotion, generating interest, increasing skills for both current and new paddlers to expand their capabilities in the sport of paddling in Western Australia
  • Coordinate Education Courses
  • Maintain the Website (WordPress)
  • To undertake other tasks that are requested within the Development Officers skill set and general office duties
  • Work 37.5 hours a week, will require some weekend and evening work.

Skills and Experience:

-Experience in running Paddling (or similar) events
-Excellent customer service skills
-Ability to work autonomously
-Proven track record in managing staff effectively

-Experience in a leadership role
-Ability to learn our Membership software.
-Strong organisational skills
-Problem-solving and negotiation skills
-Effective written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with varied stakeholders
-Experience with event organisation
-Experience coordinating education programs
-High computer literacy with Microsoft suite, WordPress, Google Suite and Social Media platforms
-Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own time

-Keen attention to detail with all written work and publications

Selection Criteria:

  1. Qualification in relevant field
  2. Previous experience working as part of a small team in a busy office environment
  3. Current Police Check
  4. Current Working with Children
  5. Valid Manual Drivers License
