Distance: 30km
The race starts 500m above Northam Weir and winds its way downstream through channels covering the opening stages of Day 1 of the famous Avon Descent.
From Northam Weir to Katrine Bridge, the river is characterised by flat water and intermittent deep pools.
2km downriver from Katrine is Glen Avon Rapid, a small but tricky rapid. There will be on-water safety set up here. After 7km of coffee rock, Sinclair’s Crossing underneath Dumbarton Bridge presents a challenge with many channels that exist even in low water.
Not far downriver is Extracts Weir which is a COMPULSORY PORTAGE in this race. The river from Extracts to Toodyay is shallow with a gravely bed.

Age: must be 16 years and over on the day of the race to be able to enter.
Race class constitution: Male – 4 craft to a class. Female – 3 craft to a class. The race organizers reserve the right to combine craft to form a class.
K2, S2 and K3 competitors must enter individually and name their partner.
Prizes are given at this event from a random bib draw as soon as possible after the race finishes. Class winners will be acknowledged at presentations however they will not receive a prize.

SUP’s are welcome to participate in this event – however there will be a cut off time at Katrine Bridge, posted closer to the event.
