What We Do
The LiveLighter Paddle Academy is a paddle education program that can cater for schools, senior groups, corporate team building, social groups and individuals. Our experienced instructors teach participants the basic paddling skills in a fun & safe environment, and run all-year-round on flatwater, in the ocean, or even in whitewater!
Paddle WA provides all the equipment including kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and where relevant, spray decks and helmets. We travel all over the state to teach on most types of water sources (rivers, lakes, pools, ocean etc.) so get in touch if you think there’s a place nearby that we can run sessions for you at.
Skills taught in the LiveLighter Paddle Academy include:
- Inspection of craft & equipment
- Understanding of basic paddling safety
- Launch and disembark from your craft
- Forwards & backwards paddle strokes
- Turning strokes
- Using your paddle for support
- Rafting up
- Capsize & recovery drills
Every booking is tailored to the specific group and their abilities, so let us know if you have any requests or queries. There is no limit to the number of sessions (one-off, or even 12+), the frequency (weekly, monthly etc.), the duration of each session (flatwater 1-4hrs, whitewater 2-6hrs), or number of participants in your booking.

Instructors
Paddle WA is lucky to have some of the state's most talented and friendly kayakers instructing our Paddle Academy sessions.

From beaches to lakes, rivers to rapids, there is always something nearby for Paddle Academy to teach you how to paddle on!
